Jon Maier

Chief Investment Officer

Jon joined Global X in 2017. He and his team shape the firm’s market outlook, leads the construction of model portfolios, crafts the firm’s investment strategy, and contributes to the development of ETF products. As portfolio managers, Jon and his team use a top-down approach to investing, focusing on macro level trends implementing their investment strategy through the use of broad based and more narrowly focused ETFs. Jon has 25 years of experience on Wall Street, most recently as the lead Model Portfolio Strategist at Merrill Lynch managing their ETF model portfolio business within its CIO Office. Prior to managing Merrill’s ETF model portfolio business, Jon was the Senior Closed-end Fund Research analyst within Bank of America-Merrill Lynch Global Research. Prior to joining Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, Jon was the lead Research Analyst covering Closed-end Funds and BDCs at UBS and its predecessor firm, PaineWebber. While at PaineWebber/UBS, Jon worked in structuring closed-end fund IPOs and subsequently covering new funds. Jon has authored many papers on Closed-end funds and ETFs, he has appeared on Reuters, Bloomberg, Cheddar TV, Yahoo TV and is often quoted in leading financial publications including The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s. Earlier, Jon was a financial analyst with American International Group and served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kiev, Ukraine, focusing on privatization projects. Jon received his BBA from Emory University.

Morgane joined Global X in 2020. She is responsible for leading the firm’s research efforts in Europe, providing insights on the markets and ETFs alike. Morgane frequently speaks at investor conferences and is often cited in the financial media. Prior to joining Global X, Morgane spent several years in the ETF industry, working as an Investment strategist at BMO Global Asset Management and ETF Securities in London. Prior to that, she held roles as macroeconomist at Pictet & Cie in Geneva and the French Treasury in Washington, D.C. She has a BSc in Applied Mathematics from Université Nice-Sophia Antipolis (France) and MSc’s in Economics & Financial Engineering from Université Paris Dauphine (France).

Michelle joined Global X in 2018 and has been instrumental in establishing the operations and processes for the ETF model portfolio business. She works closely with Jon Maier on the construction and management of the ETF model portfolios while overseeing the broader team that is involved in the management of the model portfolios. Previously, Michelle worked at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in its ETF model portfolio business. Prior to Merrill, Michelle worked for a boutique asset management firm, with a focus on both South African and developed market equities. Michelle has authored papers on portfolio management with a focus on thematic and income focused investing. She also writes about a broad range of economic topics. Michelle holds a Master’s in International Finance from the Amsterdam Business School and is a CFA Charterholder.

He previously worked at UBS Wealth Management as a Senior Wealth Strategy Associate, where he was responsible for the development and management of the investment strategy for a book of ultra-high net worth clients. David holds a B.A. in International Relations focused in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and is a CFA Level III Candidate.
